Ancient Charm, Contemporary Revival: Immerse Yourself in Eastern Aesthetics at the Handcrafted Harmony Song-Style Elegant Gathering

The 2026 Handcrafted Harmony International Art Exhibition featuring a Song-Style Elegant Gathering kicked off on May 28 at Qingshan Harmony Incense & Wellness Art Space in Qingdao. Built around the core tenet of Handcrafted Harmony, Carrying Forward Ancient Heritage, the event brings together high-end cultural forums, intangible cultural heritage (ICH) showcases, tea and aromatherapy wellness experiences, ceramic art as well as live calligraphy and painting creation. It has forged an international cultural exchange platform underpinned by the philosophy of “forging friendships over tea, embodying profound truths through artisanal wares, expressing inner spirit via paintings, and passing on moral values through fine arts”. Celebrated artists, ICH inheritors and cultural experts from across the globe converged in Qingdao to deliver a millennia-spanning feast of authentic Eastern aesthetics that transcends geographical boundaries.

Helmed and curated by Ge Juan, principal of Qingdao Huayi International Cultural Exchange Co., Ltd., this flagship annual international cultural exchange gala comes on the heels of the fruitful debut of the 2025 Handcrafted Harmony International Art & Lifestyle Exhibition. According to Ge Juan, the organizing team strives to develop Handcrafted Harmony into a signature Qingdao cultural IP with outstanding global visibility through recurring art exhibitions and immersive on-site cultural experiences. Rooted in meticulous craftsmanship, the brand links Eastern civilization with the wider world and fosters cross-cultural global communication.

Breaking away from the traditional single-model exhibition format, the event prioritizes cross-cultural exchange and coexistence between civilizations. A full schedule of immersive cultural activities was arranged for the opening afternoon, with successive displays of intangible heritage and artistic performances from multiple nations offering Chinese and foreign guests diversified transnational cultural experiences. Tomoyuri Kawagishi, an eminent master of Japanese tea ceremony, presented an authentic tea ritual to interpret the foundational spirit of Japanese tea: harmony, respect, purity and tranquility. At the aromatherapy exchange session, professional incense craftsmen demonstrated the production and tasting techniques of seasonal blended incense to promote conventional incense wellness culture. Renowned Chinese calligraphers and painters gathered for an on-site brush creation session, depicting the elegant verve of classical Chinese aesthetics with ink wash works. Meanwhile, artists, art collectors and representatives of art spaces attended thematic roundtables, holding in-depth discussions covering transnational artistic collaboration, innovative inheritance of intangible heritage and integrated cultural-tourism development to pioneer new paths for cultural advancement.

International visitors and art industry practitioners assembled at the elegant gathering, leveraging art as a universal medium for in-depth cross-border cultural dialogue. The event has significantly facilitated cultural exchange and artistic integration throughout Northeast Asia.

古韵新生！来“手作天成”宋式雅集沉浸式邂逅东方美学

5月28日，2026“手作天成”宋式雅集国际艺术展在青岛庆膳和香养艺术空间启幕。本次展览以“手作天成·与古为薪”为核心理念，融合高端文化论坛、非遗技艺展演、茶道香养体验、陶瓷艺术、书画创作等多元内容，搭建起“以茶会友、以器载道、以画为魂、以艺载德”的国际化文化交流平台。海内外知名艺术家、非遗传承人及文化学者齐聚青岛，联袂呈现了一场跨越国界、溯源千年的东方美学盛宴。

据了解，本次活动由青岛华艺国际文化交流有限公司负责人、策展人葛娟主导打造，是继2025年首届“手作天成”国际艺术和生活展成功举办后，持续深耕的年度品牌国际文化交流盛事。葛娟表示，团队致力于通过常态化的艺术展览、沉浸式驻场文化体验，将“手作天成”培育为青岛本土极具辨识度与国际影响力的文化IP，以匠心为纽带，让东方文化联结世界、对话全球。

本次展览打破单一观展模式，聚焦多国文化互鉴共生，在开幕当日下午精心策划系列沉浸式文化体验活动，多国非遗技艺与艺术展演轮番登场，为中外嘉宾带来丰富多元的跨国文化体验：日本茶道资深老师川岸友梨现场演绎经典日本茶道，传递“和、敬、清、寂”的东方茶道内核；香养艺术交流专场，专业香艺师现场分享时令和香的制作技艺与品鉴方法，普及传统香养文化；中方书画名家齐聚笔会，现场挥毫泼墨，以水墨丹青演绎中式美学的气韵与意境；艺术家、藏家及艺术空间代表开展专题座谈，围绕跨国文化艺术合作、非遗创新传播、文旅融合发展等方向展开深度探讨，共谋文化发展新路径。

多国友人、艺术从业者齐聚一堂，以雅集为载体，以艺术为语言，完成了一场跨越国界的深度文化对话，有效推动了东北亚文化艺术的互鉴与融合。
